Good riddance Mock The Week…you’re just not funny

Ustreme founder Jim Davidson has reacted to news BBC panel show Mock the Week has been cancelled, saying: “That’s what you get when you put PC ‘wokeness’ above making people laugh.”

The show – which has been criticised by many for its apparent left-wing bias – has been axed after 17 years.

The decision follows the cancellation of The Mash Report last year, after Tim Davie, the BBC director-general, signalled that comedy shows with perceived Left-wing bias would be phased out in an attempt to strengthen the broadcaster’s impartiality credentials.

Jim said: “It deserves to go. It just wasn’t funny.

“They started at the point of asking whether the panelists were woke enough to appear and not whether they were actually funny. It’s supposed to be a comedy show, not a bunch of smug liberals lecturing everybody.

“I remember a time when you could be funny without going to university.

“The tide is definitely turning. Life is hard enough and people just want to laugh like they used to. That’s what comedy is for.

“Everyone has had enough with this woke crap now which just doesn’t have a place in comedy. Go woke, go broke.”

Mock the Week host Dara O’Briain denied any political bias, saying it was natural to mock the government of the day.
