Jim to collect for dementia charity at sell-out Weymouth gig

Ustreme founder Jim Davidson will be collecting money for Alzheimer’s Research UK at his sell-out return gig in Weymouth.

The comedian usually collects money for the independent Caister Lifeboats at his gigs up and down the country. But he will be doing a one-off collection for the dementia charity to support Ustreme PR Vicky Nash’s London Marathon fund, as she lives in the seaside town.

Jim will be returning to the stage in Weymouth for the first time in three years on Sunday March 12 with his Not Yet Cancelled tour, and tickets have sold out.

Ahead of the gig, Jim said: “I’m looking forward to renewing my relationship with wonderful Weymouth.

“Some of the timings just hadn’t worked out with my previous shows which is why it’s been such a long time since I’ve performed at the theatre but I can’t wait to be back. I’m glad to be supporting Vic with her marathon fundraising efforts on the night.”

Vicky, who is running London Marathon on April 23 in memory of her nan and grandad who both died of dementia, said: “I hate running but this is a cause so close to my heart having watched dementia strip my grandparents of their personalities, pride and dignity long before they were actually gone. 

“Anyone who has had experience with dementia will know that it is the cruellest of illnesses, and I am so unbelievably chuffed to be able to run and raise money to fund research into groundbreaking treatments, cures, diagnosis and prevention so others don’t suffer the same.

“I am overwhelmed with the support I have received so far. And thank you Jim for helping me collect at your Weymouth gig!”
