Meet...Debbie Arnold

Debbie Arnold has enjoyed a successful career in TV and theatre, playing regular characters in Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors. Known for her portrayal as April Branning in Eastenders, she’s the only actress ever to appear in two soaps at the same time as a regular.

She has been privileged to work with many British comedy legends, including The Two Ronnies, Eric Sykes, John Cleese, Spike Milligan, Dick Emery – and Jim Davidson.

She began her career on television, in BBC comedy The Liver Birds and, at 18, was was given a job impersonating Marilyn Monroe on Now Who Do You Do? before pursuing voice roles.

In 1978, Arnold was a regular on the ITV gameshow 3-2-1 and has had roles in many television series including Terry and June, Minder, The Bill, The Russ Abbot show, The Jim Davidson Show, Up the Elephant and Round the Castle, Miss Marple, All Creatures Great And Small, Birds of A Feather and Jonathan Creek among many others.

Her theatre credits include The Sleeping Prince, playing opposite Omar Sharif, for which she won many awards and accolades. Other West End appearances include Hollywood Babylon, Women Behind Bars, Four In A Million and Last of the Red Hot Lovers.

She is also the creator, producer and host of popular online shows The Amazing Wonderbirds with her friends Sherrie Hewson, Harriet Thorpe and Dee Anderson, and “Beauty Angels” with Linda Lusardi.
