Jim Davidson documentary to air on Channel 5

Channel 5 will air a documentary exploring the life, career and controversies of comedian Jim Davidson.

The 90-minute documentary, called The Cancellation Of Jim Davidson, features interviews with friends, colleagues and critics, and will be shown at 10pm on Friday, May 24th.

It offers an in-depth exploration of his home life and career – including an extraordinary family secret – while charting his meteoric rise to fame from talent show contestant to the face of Saturday night TV; struggles in the spotlight; financial disaster; colourful relationship history; wrongful arrest as part of the botched Operation Yewtree investigation; Celebrity Big Brother triumph, numerous comebacks and life now as boss of streaming channel Ustreme.

An advert for the documentary reads: “Featuring interviews with both friends and critics, as well as extensive archival footage, the documentary seeks to uncover the layers behind his public image.

“In an era marked by social media scrutiny and cancel culture, how has Jim survived and found a new audience online and in sell-out shows across the British coastline?”

Jim said: “I had a film crew following me around for over a month, interviewing me about my life now and looking back over the past few decades. It was quite an emotional thing to be part of.

“I’ve certainly had a life…don’t you worry about that! I’m looking forward to seeing what people think when they watch it. Who knows…some people who have decided they hate me without ever meeting me or seeing me perform might even change their opinion!”
