A host of celebrity comics and performers have been lined up to mentor Ustreme’s budding stars in all elements of comedy as part of our Laughter Class course.
Ustreme auditioned dozens of wannabe comedians before whittling the contestants down to nine finalists, who will compete for the chance to become the industry’s next big thing.
The finalists will now be put through their paces and trained in all genres of comedy from stand-up to script writing, performing in a double act, panto performance and mic technique over three days.
Christopher Biggins, Bobby Davro, Kev Orkian and Ustreme founder Jim Davidson will be teaching the finalists everything they know about making it big in the business, alongside professional comedy coach and stand-up comic, Nik Coppin, who will also be hosting the production.
Following the course, our Laughter Class contestants will take to the stage in front of a live audience and panel of judges – including Miles Crawford and Garry Bushell – to perform their own stand-up routines, when a winner will be chosen.
The Grand Final will take place at the Concorde Club, in Eastleigh, on October 31st, and tickets are on sale now.
Comedy legend Jim said: “We’re delighted to have some veterans of the comedy world coming along to mentor our finalists.
“Between us, we know the industry inside and out, and will teach them everything we know so they can put on a bloody good stand-up routine.
“The whole thing about Laughter Class was about finding raw talent that can be nurtured, it wasn’t necessarily about putting through the people who put on the most polished audition initially. Our finalists are a great bunch who are really willing to learn and there might be some comedy stars of the future among them.”
Tickets for the Grand Final cost £17.50 or £47.50 with a three-course meal, and are available by calling 023 8061 3989 or visiting www.theconcordeclub.com
